Old faithful

Had to spend about 10 minutes wiggling, jiggling and bashing this lock to try and get it to open so that I could secure my bike this morning.  Eventually it did release and I decided to use it on my bike.  I did find some WD40 to spray in it in the hope that it would be OK later. 
Unfortunately when I left work the lock would not release. Another 10 minutes of increasingly frenzied key wiggling ensued and luckily it did finally release. I won't be using it again.  
I bought the lock with a new bike in 1985ish. It was my first purchase with a credit card.  As I was in my first job, the bank issued one to me.  I think the bike,  a Raleigh Wisp, cost  £125 and the lock was around £30. It has done good service and was protecting the third bike I've had since the Wisp.  
I do have another equally tough lock ready for service.  This one will be retired gracefully.
