Race day!

I’m not a huge fan of organised runs; too much hanging around, difficulty getting one's hydration right, not enough loos, and so on and so grumbly forth.

My usual reason for doing one is if it’s a route that I might not be able to do otherwise, either logistically or from a safety point of view, which is why I was happy to run the Coniston 14.

Today we were running in support of a charity run by one of Charlie’s friends, and that seemed a good enough reason to get out. And in the end, I really enjoyed it; there was such a great atmosphere in the city.

I ran with Milly, which was lovely. The route was quite dull - out to Salford Quays and back, basically - but the weather was nice and she’s great company.

We all met up at Mum and Wol’s hotel on St Peter’s Square for post-run drinks, before we all went home to freshen up and change.

In the evening, we all congregated at our house, and enjoyed pizzas in the garden sat around the fire, a perfect finish to the day.
