Just a few Pretzels
FRIDAY
It was a hectic day.
First job was to put the final coat of paint on the skirting boards in the kitchen and utility room.
Then it was off to Denbigh to collect a prescription and do some last-minute shopping for the weekend. One of the things on the list was to buy three helium balloons to make up the number “100”.
Morrisons had one number 1 but no zeros. Across town, Home Bargains had no number 1s but two zeros which they kindly put them aside for me while I dashed back to Morrisons to grab the 1. Then it was back to Home Bargains to collect the zeros.
But while I was at Home Bargains, disaster struck: the number 1 balloon exploded in the car thanks to the hot sun. With the air conditioning set to freezing, I drove home with just the two zeros, then headed back out in search of another 1.
After a 20-mile round trip and three more shop visits, I finally found the elusive "1" at Card Warehouse!
Later in the evening, Harriet and George arrived from Nottingham with a car full of food and drink—including a jar of sourdough pretzels and their pizza oven.
It's always lovely to see them.
