horns of wilmington's cow

No Fox Given?

We don't see much evidence of Foxes around here*, having moved to the wilds of West Fife 3 and a bit years ago. It's probably down to the farmers around about (one has told me that someone gets called in to 'take care' of them); whereas in the city they were a nightly occurrence in the garden.

So it was lovely today to be out trying to get a photo of an escaped cow in the Forestry land round us (that's another thing, the farmers don't seem much bothered about livestock going roaming, there are also at least half a dozen rogue sheep with lambs crashing about). Anyway, trying to find and get a photo of the cow, to get the tag number, and let the farmer know he's missing a young bullock, I spotted some orangey movement ahead.

And fortunately the fox was being less vigilant than me (in fairness, I was making sure I didn't spook a cow that then tried to stomp me), so I was able to crouch down until it appeared over a small crest. A moment later I was finally spotted, and it darted off into the trees.

Never did spot the cow.

* the Pine Marten from a couple of days ago is much more prevalent on trail cams.
