Seeking Iris
12 800 Steps! Yay that's the best day I've had in weeks, only managing about half that number on my dodgy knee. I'm saying it very quietly but the knee has been much improved in recent days. I'm carrying my stick with me and sitting down when it begins to ache but everything crossed it's improving.
This morning we took the train into Leeds to pay in some coin at the building society, pick up coffee pods and pop to John Lewis for such diverse things as a meat tenderiser mallet and knickers! Tony didn't want to reenact the Father Ted episode in the lingerie department so he headed to the kitchenwares.
Shopping done, we walked over to Waterstones for a cuppa and toasted teacakes (and a Tunnocks Teacake for me!). We sat near to the Children's Department as we like to look at the books and games with Euan in mind. It was very busy with excited children enjoying a half term activity day based on the Donut Squad. This book is a recent Euan favourite and we both laughed at the exploits of Spronky Donut when we read it at his Nana and Grandad's yesterday.
Teacakes consumed and cuppas drunk, we went to the train station via the Lego Shop which was also bursting with half term children. I'm guessing the change in the weather has decided parents to source things to keep their offspring occupied indoors.
Back home we had a late lunch then I caught up with Episode 3 of Panam 103, which I think has been sensitively handled. Tony said that dinner would be a while so, as the rain began again, I took my camera up to Coppice Pond in search of remaining Iris. With the rain pattering on the pond and low cloud hovering over the water, it was quite magical.
