Joy and Sadness

A long coastal walk with the family this morning, followed by lunch in the hotel on the shore. A trip through the hills, enjoying the lovely tapestry of rock, water, forest and pasture. Back at base, we spotted a strangely familiar vessel approaching - VIC 32, the last of the Clyde Puffers still afloat. Mag and TM were down to the pier with alacrity and helped with the berthing.
Dinner cooked and eaten, we are now sitting in the long room overlooking the bay and watching the changing light as evening falls. A perfect day - except for the phone call to tell me that a very dear friend has passed. A peaceful end to a very long, well-lived life - but it feels as if a light somewhere has gone out ...
