Selkirk Grace
I finally found an appropriate gift for our American friend who reaches his 3 score years and 10 on Friday. I've bought a couple of other Burns items to go with it. A book of sogs with illustrations by Elizabeth Blackadder whose work I very much enjoy and a book of the Bard's most bawdy songs and rhymes with a forward by Magnus Magnusson!
I met a friend for coffee this morning to show her around the Rectory. We then headed out to Craigie for a blether, accompanied by coffee and a scone. It was good to catch up. She also bought some of the Craigie strawberries, they are just opening their pick their own, to a limited degree. I bought some Angus grown strawberries yesterday from M&S, they were just delicious and bore no relation to those hard sour objects we've been eating out of season.
This evening I fancied a Chinese meal, but I'd forgotten it was Tuesday when most of the restaurants are closed. We ended up in one called Street of Beijing in Tollcross. A very unassuming restaurant, with very tasty food. As usual I managed about half!
