Stainmore Road between Scotch Corner and Brough

How wonderful to be back at Armaside House, back to our little flat in the Western Lakes. What a treat and a privilege, you can tell we love it in this part of Cumbria. A few days to relax now after the busyness of last week.

We finally got away from Kent at around mid day after a frantic few hours getting everything in the car, the last touches to the house ready for tomorrow’s photos, giving the keys to the estate agent, collecting prescription, taking books back to the library and picking up the last few supplies.

Kent did its best to ensure we didn’t leave. Took ages to get out of Maidstone, then there was a huge jam northbound at the Dartford Tunnel and it rained incessantly creating great sheets of spray.

We took our time, arriving at Armaside at 8.00pm having crossed the Pennines via the A66 in beautiful conditions as you can see. We’d brought a dinner from the freezer so while that warmed through there were endless journeys up and down the stairs, then a lot of unpacking, some of which still needs to be done.

Susan’s doing her Gaelic lesson while I’m listening to Jim Bryson and The Occasionals.

So pleased that many of you liked yesterday’s grasses and buttercups. Fortunate happenstance as it was nothing special just outside the frame
