Tissington Well Dressing
I hadn’t been to Tissington Well Dressing since I was a child, living not too far from this lovely Derbyshire village.
The well dressings will be blessed during the Ascension Day service tomorrow. They have been lovingly created in farm buildings in or near the village and involve so much intricate work. The display will be open to admire from tomorrow and, no advance pictures would be respectful. I have a couple of construction photos which I will add as extras tomorrow.
We went up to the village to talk to the ladies doing the hard work. It’s amazing and each well requires more than 100 hours of serious and skilled work, assembling the flowers, coffee beans, egg shells and other items needed.
If you haven’t been, please consider a visit. All money goes to charities, including the local churches.
Even if you can’t get there during this very holy festival, the village itself is wonderful, so beautiful and friendly. It was a super day out.
