Wanderings and meanders

York Minster, York

Final day of long weekend break. Breakfast at Weetons nearly became brunch, but we got ourselves organised and headed for York.

York was extremely busy. We persevered walking up the Shambles, past the queues for various shops and up to the Minster, round to the Treasurers House and then the first torrential shower struck, so we headed to Parlormade for tea and scones. Don't envy the staff carrying tea and scones up the narrow staircases - the scones were exceedingly good though and just what we needed to keep us going and keep us out of the rain showers for a spell.

We wandered through to the Barley House and enjoyed a look around there. Then it was time to make our way back across the river, get our bags and two of us headed for the train north while B headed back to Harrogate.

In Edinburgh the rain had set in, so it felt like an apt ending for the long weekend.
