The largest mosque in Africa
We got special assistance at the airport which was a great help though quite stressful as we were kept in various holding pens wondering if anyone would come.
The flight was 1.5 hours late leaving as boarding was chaotic. People coming up the back steps who had seats at the front and vice versa. Then people with lots of carry-on bags, sone huge, so some had to be put in the hold. Some extremely disabled people got carried on, one young woman in a kind of sack. The flight itself was only 2 hours.
Immigration was a bit grim as he wanted to look in detail at all my stamps, presumably looking for Israel which of course we have not been to, nor will we ever go.
Our guide has very good English and is quite forceful, insisting I’ll be fine on the many casbah steps. There are 8 of us in the group, 3 men and 5 women.
After M’hamet spoke for an hour we got our keys to the rooms with instructions to meet at 9am tomorrow. The hotel is brutalist soviet style from 1975. We have a huge room with sofas, chairs and plenty tables strategically placed for me to fall over in the night.
Oh, I forgot - two Blippers guessed. We are in Algiers!
