Old and new - The Shard

Very annoying. Although BA check in is 24 hours before, special assistance requests have to be 48 hours. Missed by 1.5 hours yesterday. However we are staying at Gatwick so we’ll see if we can try there.

Mr C, who normally likes to be at the station ages before the train, was a bit too laid back today and the train was pulling in as we emerged from the metro. It was quite a full train. Nobody told the barking dog it was in the quiet coach.

I had to walk almost 2 miles - a short way to the metro, a trek at Kings x and St Pancras and then Gatwick to the hotel. After negotiating the self check-in machine and the wait for a lift we got to our room at 7.45. We have a meal booked for 8.30. At least the sound-proofing in Premier Inns is good.

#3 daughter and family are at their country dacha for a few days as it’s half term. They have started on our Tanqueray.
