Seaside sundae in the city

The new friends that we made at the Haltwhistle walking festival on 3rd May are in Edinburgh for a couple of days. This evening they invited us to join them for dinner (and non-stop chat) at Howies on Waterloo Place. After the meal, the four of us wandered down the road to our flat for peppermint tea and even more talking. It already feels like we have known Heather and Al for so much longer than a mere three weeks.

It was interesting to be back in Howies. Here, not long after I completed my PhD, I hosted a dinner for the most significant women in my life. Mr hazelh also reminded me that the restaurant was the venue in 1996 of the 40th birthday party of a dear friend who was killed in a rail accident five years later in 2001.

The rest of the day was super-busy. I went to the gym in the morning for my usual Wednesday classes. This afternoon Mr hazelh and I made charity donation deliveries to Leith Walk, then he went for a run while I worked on a document for Bruce.

I have blipped my rather retro pudding at Howies. Goodness knows much much sugar it contains!

Exercise today: 1 hour on the exercise bike; aquafit class; swim (20 lengths); strength training; walking (19,433 steps).
