First Iris, Last Daffodil

Last fall I planted some very late blooming daffodils in the studio garden, and I was pleased to see some still blooming. I was equally pleased to see the first iris in the dooryard garden.  Soon the yard will be filled with these purple flowers.  It is a very old variety and not as showy as the new ones, but I love the colors.  The garden is coming to life and everyday there is some new sight to see.  Be prepared for lots of flower "portraits" in the days ahead!
