Marjorie's ramblings

Sweet Williams

I bought myself a bunch the other day. There were two broken stems which is why they are in this small vase. I like the way they disport themselves!

Today there was a meeting for the volunteers at the Haltwhistle Walking Festival. It was to review the recent festival and to plan for the future. Basically, the festival was a great success with more new people than ever before attending. My view is that we don't need to change much if anything to a successful format.

There was a lot of discussion. I tried hard not to say anything, because I used to be the Chair, but of course, I did slip in a few comments!

I am retiring now from leading walks but I have volunteered to check some routes for next year's festival, before they go on the programme. August looks like a good month to do this and I have in mind a few people who might like to help me. We could have a few adventures as we find our way!

We had a lovely lunch provided by Rachel and Felix, our hosts. They live in The Old Presbytery.  Hazelh and Tim stayed there for the second weekend of this year's festival and have booked to return in 2026!

I called at the small nursery in Haltwhistle, looking for bedding plants. As previously, there were no prices and the girl had to keep going away to ask someone. I didn't buy anything.

Down to Earth in Hexham was well stocked and my bedding plants are now sheltering behind the house. The tulips have not all died back yet, but I didn't want to find that the stocks were low when I went for the annuals.

That's about it for today.
