Budapest Day 2
My day, but not in sequence because I cannot be bothered to wrestle further with the collage app..... I took a circuitous route from the hotel to the conference venue to see the Danube, a tram and some of the locality. Interesting to see buildings in need of renovation and those already renovated next to each other.
My first stop in the conference was a panel on the constitutional court cancellation of the Presidential election in Romania - a variety of perspectives by real experts. Interesting to see the parallels, when laid bare, between the campaigning techniques of Zelenskyy back in the day and the man who won the cancelled first round of the Presidential election. After the coffee break I moderated an excellent panel also on "the law of democracy". Great to see so many early and mid career scholars doing really interesting work.
At lunchtime I had to take a call from back home, but I managed to get to part of the final set of panel sessions and the concluding session, before I headed back to the hotel for a it of a rest. I identified a craft beer bar about 20 minutes walk away, so went there, before going for dinner with H and B, whom I hadn't seen since L's wedding in 2019. B has changed quite a bit. Much "easier". Very much his father's son.
A short walk back to the hotel.
