Louth

We had a most enjoyable day exploring Louth with friends D and L. My main shows the tallest parish church spire in England attached to St James Church. Completed in 1515, it is 293 feet and one inch (89.33 metres) to the top of the weather vane. Sadly, we could not go up into the tower to admire the view because there were peregrines nesting there. However, amongst many other things, there was a beautiful display of hassocks to enjoy  inside the church (extra). We also had to visit and make some purchases at The Cheese Shop, which has gained recognition in some national newspapers and appeared on The Hairy Bikers' Food Tour of Britain.

Along with our cheese purchases came two white chocolate mice. A nod to the Tale of The Cheese Shop Mouse which would nibble the cheese during the night. The wizard who owned The Cheese Shop cast a spell on his shop so that even to this day, any mouse that comes within a wand’s length of the cheese is instantly changed to white chocolate.
Another interesting fact about Louth is that it lies on the Prime Meridian.
