Dandelions Three Ways.
It's very hot and very dry today. Especially for May. We took Spike to the soccer field at the school early this morning and threw the ball for him because neither one of us had the energy for a walk and he loves chasing the ball. His sonar was a little bit off at first, possibly because we haven't done it in awhile, but he settled down to it in the end. I took a couple of pictures to illustrate how dry everything is and haven't had time to take any more. The extra illustrates how tall the grass can get after a rainy spring. (I prevailed on John to stand there for perspective, but Spike seems to be wondering if there might be something in it for him.) It adds fuel to any fire and will also turn into a torch if a spark from a passing vehicle or a weed whacker lands in it.
We are under orders to mow everything by June 2, which has been declared the official start of fire season. We might have to do it twice this summer as the grass will grow back. We're all being warned to get our "go bags" ready.
Bob and Gail are coming over to see if the giant pot will fit in their car. I don't think it's going to so I'm hoping we they don't have to wrestle it into the driveway and then into the car. They're coming for dinner so it won't feel like a wasted trip if it doesn't fit.
I know everybody is probably as sick of the political news as I am but I have to add a little of the latest just for the record. No need to read further if you're fed up with it all.
Trump gave Elon Musk a send off from his job as 'advisor'.as the three month term has expired. an article in the NY Times says that during the campaign he was heavily into Ketamine (used as an anesthetic but also as an antidepressant by licensed doctors in certain controlled situations.) taking it daily along with psychedelic drugs. And...I knew he has a lot of children but was a bit floored at the latest count of 14! He explained a black eye saying he invited his youngest, called X, to 'hit him in the face' and he did! I can think of a lot of people who would love to follow up on that invitation. So he is 'officially' gone from the White House but I don't think he's finished 'advising' in an unofficial capacity.
I think I'll go turn on the heat pump to reverse or whatever it does to cool things off. John asked me if I wanted a glass of wine and his watch told him that a standard pour in the US was 5 oz. We looked at each other and finally said simultaneously;
ME: addressing the watch. Who asked you?
JOHN: That's creepy.
