Angry Birds.

The high temperatures of the last couple of days have mitigated and the weather was just about perfect today. We sat around trying to decide if we wanted to read the paper, (not really)  and then trying to decide where we wanted to go for our walk. The squamous cell skin cancer on my elbow has grown a lot, is very ugly looking and is becoming quite painful. I have to confess that for the first time I'm quite freaked out by it.I've never had one blow up like this. I see the MOHS surgeon on Tuesday and John offered to go with me. And for the first time, I'm taking him up on it. In the meantime, I'm trying to create diversions so we decided to do the Brush Creek walk which we both enjoy and then walk across the street to Sarmentine, the French Patisserie and get some lemon meringue tarts* for grandson Peter's birthday celebration tonight. While there we broke our diet big time by getting a brie, arugula and fig jam sandwich for lunch.

By the time I finished that it was either fall asleep on the couch or go outside and finish pruning the olive and cut off the streletzias which had run their course. Sometimes when they are starting to dry out they do remind me of angry birds. The olive tree defeated me. It looks better, I think, but I decided if I did anay more I would just make it worse so I sat in the shade and contemplated all the work John and Dana have done out there.

The Orange Man has decided to cut funds for the USDA food boxes offering key staples that have been handed out to low income seniors in collaboration with  local food banks around the country since 1969. He (says he ) wants to replace them with MAHA (Make America Healthy Again) boxes but has mentioned no plan as to how this would be accomplished.

Here are a couple of quotes:

I think it's safe to sum up everything that this administration is doing as 'ready, fire, aim'. I don't think they've laid out a single plan and they're not looking for an orderly transition to whatever the new plan is...
--Mike Thompson our Democratic  Representative in Congress

I'm pissed. This troubles me. WE DON'T ALL HAVE GOLDEN TOILETS
--Caryl Sherman, waiting at a local food bank pick up at a senior center

Those are my caps. I think this should be the quote of the year (so far). It says so much on so many levels...
