One potato,two potato

This is the road to Roskill Farm taken from the Munlochy bird hide. The trees are magnificent beech trees that look stunning through out the seasons. The farm is arable 'majoring on high seed potatoes' including Innovator, purple Majesty, Maris piper and rooster. A 400 ha farm with sandy loam does nt make farmimg easy and now 170 and 190hp tractors are used to plough deep enough into the soil for the potato crop.
I think the fields you can see had barley in this year and the combine was busy at the top of the field. The ploughed field was worked on early this morning and the tractor was followed by the usual mass of gulls. This is a good time to see Red kites as they pick up any tractor kill. We did see one flying over.

I bought my 'ducks' this morning for the Marybank duck race in a few weeks time. I hope to be there to cheer them on !

It's a lovely evening and hardly any rain today, fingers crossed for a nice weekend. Have a good one everybody !
