The source of yesterday's grumpiness

The next stage of the church building renovations saga trundles on. Hopefully by next weekend the locks will all match the new keys issued last week to those of us who have keys and the old doors will be consigned to the place where old doors go... 

However, despite yesterday's grumps, my soul was much restored by some great singing of some cracking hymns at church today, several people we've not seen for some time showing up, and a general energy that's not been around for a while.

The teenagers  who'd not been in church recently (exams related) also showed up, as promised, and to the bemusement of some newer members of the congregation, demonstrated that I have trained them well in the arts of clearing numbers off the hymn boards, then putting them away, collecting up and putting away service books, then attending to the putting out of candles all before I have finished the final voluntary so the older one could kick me off the organ bench for their turn, and the younger one could chat with me whilst awaiting a change to try out their latest "show off" (their term!) piece on the piano. I mean, they are also my piano students so they are used to doing as I tell them.

Back to main workplace tomorrow so a lazy evening is beckoning.
