Washed Out
I enjoyed another early morning walk through local fields trying, mostly in vain, to get photographs of the birds I could hear calling to each other. I sat for ages listening to fly catchers calling in bushes right in front of me. It was hard to believe I couldn't see the birds, so loud were their calls.
I did have luck with this little dishevelled jay. As ever I caught sight of the blue on its wings. I'm sure many have had the same experience, only for it to fly off without the remotest chance of getting a photograph. Well on this occasion it stopped on this branch and proceeded to have a good wash in the local brook. I'm not sure if it is a young fledgling, but it allowed me to get quite close and take a number of shots. It was quite dark, so the quality is compromised.
I'm making a point of sharing new birds I haven't seen before with photos on my journal. So as an extra I've also got a photo of a willow warbler I did see singing away on the brach of a nearby tree.
Other than that it was a quiet day, with a bit of work in the garden, between showers.
