The Refurbishment is Complete

We went to 7:00 am Mass today. Hubby was helping at the Knight’s breakfast; he met me at church. I got there early so I could go to the choir loft and get a good view for the photo. You can see the “before” shot on my Jan 2, 2025 blip. It doesn’t show the ruined pews, worn blue carpet in the aisles and probably asbestos tiles under the pews. The new flooring is beautiful and practical. Isn’t the refurb fabulous? The parishioners have been contributing to the building fund monthly for years to make this possible. Hubby made me a “to go” breakfast plate. I had a cup of coffee with him and fellow parishioners and then came home. Decided to weed the perimeter of the raised garden and around the gazebo. It was a bit chilly for late spring. But it was perfect weeding weather. I came inside around 11:30. Enough work for me. Hubby came home not long after that. He brought some leftovers from breakfast and enough food from yesterday’s grad party to feed us until we leave Thursday. Wonderful. We decided to cut the TN trip short by a few days. We just saw the kids and they will be at work Monday and Tuesday anyway. This means we will be home for a few days to do laundry, mow the lawn, etc. before we head to Williamsburg with Parker and Renee. Hubby has the new car itch for the same reason as me; get his last car early enough for him to enjoy it a few years. Plus he will get more for his current car now. We really need more cargo room for our trips to/from WV. And he wants to get an SUV that can navigate those rough roads. We’ll never take my Sienna up there. He’s just doing the research for now. Otherwise, it’s been a quiet day. Hoping to see the northern lights tonight. The solar storm is supposed to be big enough that we can see them in much of the U.S. Wishing you some excitement as the weekend ends. Happy June! Be safe. Thanks for visiting. “When you strip away the rhetoric, preservation is simply having the good sense to hold on to things that are well designed, that link us with our past in a meaningful way, and that have plenty of good use left in them.” - Richard Moe
