Aberdeen
Now on the ferry to Lerwick, just south of John O’Groats about to cross the Pentland Firth. This outward voyage is direct to Lerwick. On our return we call in at Kirkwall on Orkney.
So far the sea is smooth and will remain so until we’re north of Orkney when it could get a touch choppy. By that time we should be in the cabin asleep!
We enjoyed a morning in Aberdeen mooching about the city. At first we were a little bewildered by complicated history trails until we decided just to meander around the city following our noses.
Today’s blip is as a result of those meanderings. There’s a lot of street art to be seen on many buildings which makes for interesting views.
We met up with our friend Rosemary, who is on this trip to Shetland with us, and proceeded to the ferry terminal. Leaving Aberdeen was spectacular, enormous skies, turbulent clouds and a bright atmosphere.
We’ve had a look at the literature about Shetland. There’s too much to see even in a couple of weeks.
An overnight report tomorrow. There may not be much time to visit journals while we are here.
