Sgwarnog: In the Field

Fort

One of a series of Iron Age hill forts that are strung along the Clwydian Range, Moel Arthur has some of the steepest and deepest ramparts of all.

Also the subject of my first year archaeology project in the prehistoric eighties.

Also part of the view from my bedroom window in my teenage years.

Also a sure sign that I'm back in the homeland.

The sun was out in the afternoon, and a quick walk around the block revealed Large, Small and Green-veined White, Small Tortoiseshell, Peacock, Meadow Brown, Speckled Wood, Red Admiral and Comma.
