Little canal boat

Today we went for a meal with our friends in a nice bistro in Coudroy. A small village next to the Orléans canal. Unknown to me, after our meal, our friends had a surprise for us.
The restaurant was really good. Nice authentic, good quality, no nonsense food. Not pretentious or anything and a lot cheaper than here in the Paris region.
With the apero drinks and a 3 course meal, we paid about 130 euros for the 5 of us.

So off to the nearest lock on the canal, a few minutes drive from the bistro, I saw what we were due to take a trip on. What looked like a tiny boat, which I must admit, made me hesitate about getting on it. In the end it was fine and felt surprisingly stable.
The trip was to the next lock then back, which probably took 20 mins each way. The snag was, in 30C heat, we were toasted on both sides. I was glad we all put plenty of sunscreen on and all wore hats.
The guide told us about the history of the canal, some of which I understood. I didn't participate much, while everyone else was asking questions. My French isn't too bad, but understanding some waffle about the canal was something I struggled to follow.
When we got back to the depart point, we got a tour of a larger boat which the local canal society had built themselves.

After that, we wandered down the road to a bar, next to the other side of the canal for some drinks. We eventually managed to get a table under the shade of some trees, using a nearby tap to top up with some much needed water.

That night I had a bit of Aztec Two Step. I suspect the heat got to me.
