Briare Viaduct

One of our friends took the mickey out of us, as we went to Gien, but didn't go and see the canal viaduct at Briare just a little way east from there along the Loire.
So today we went to go and visit Briare and the viaduct.

The masonry abutments and piers were completed between 1890 and 1896 by Gustave Eiffel and the steel channel was completed by Daydé & Pillé of Creil. With a walkways either side, which were fairly busy, we walked about the third of the way on the left hand side.

It was about 30C, so the heat got to both me and Mme MB, so we wandered back to the car parked nearby. Next to the car park was a small display of Citroen DS's. So I was able to add to my collection of car photos.
