'Large Reclining Figure' Henry Moore 1984.

Artist Henry Moore ( 1898-1986) changed the way we see sculpture. In 1977 he set up the Henry Moore Foundation at Perry Green, Herts, to share his legacy. It has since become one of the most active artist foundations in the world, with an ambitious educational programme.I have just spent a remarkable day visiting Moore's restored home, studios and some of the sculpture grounds and landscaped gardens, of which there are 70 acres. We saw how he created his works and also lesser known artworks including tapestries, drawings and small plaster models. We couldn't see it all in one day so will be going there again soon. I chose this sculpture 'Large Reclining Figure' as it was so impressive sited on a hill, surrounded by sheep. He bought every house nearby that came up for sale, including the pub across the road from his house, The Hoops Inn, where we enjoyed a very good lunch. A marvellous day and eventually the sun came out too !
