The good and the bad
I’ve spent the afternoon in the garden - mowing, emptying containers and doing a bit of weeding (lots more to do).
The good - one butterfly flew in, a tortoiseshell.
The bad - I noticed a problem with a section of a little box hedge along the boundary of the front garden. It looked dead, stripped of leaves. Investigation revealed the culprit (extra). Caterpillars of the box tree moth. It’s an invasive species, a native of east Asia, first appearing in Europe in 2007. My box face total defoliation. I’m not sure I can do anything about it.
