Lion's mane jellyfish
This is, apparently , a small example, they get much bigger.
Went to the RSA in the morning to look at their annual exhibition Well hung, some attractive things particularly the prints. All the images are available for online viewing.
Afternoon walk over Leith Links then along the beach at Portobello, since the tide was well out. Found a couple of these Lion's mane jellyfish, as well as the normal smaller blue ones. Lots of lugworm casts, no seabirds feeding; there were gulls on the shoreline rocks.
Gelato from Oscars, then a no 19 bus back. Overcast and gusts under clouds, but no rain until the late evening. Not particularly warm, 16C not withstanding.
