Getting ready for the fete
U3A craft group this afternoon. We all took along the things that we have made for the middle school fete next Saturday. The plan was to get things priced up and organised. There was a great deal of discussion over this. Rather than ask people make a donation and leave it to them to decide what they thought the item was worth, a couple of ladies made the decision. I stayed out of the discussion as I thought that they were just giving stuff away unnecessarily!!!
I had made 4 super teds, (in extras) the type that I make for other charities. They were deemed to be worth £1.50 each!! I was appalled, they take about 10 hrs to make plus the cost of the wool and stuffing. Talk about slave labour!!! I’ve add a picture of another donation, some small cross stitch pictures in very nice frames. It was being suggested that they were worth no more than £2 ….!!!!!! I hate to think what the lady that made them paid for the materials to make them.
I took two teds back and left two on the table. I will make a small cash donation to the charity instead. I’m already starting on producing the next batch of teds for the church parachute jump later in the month, so these will join them. That is my priority.
S came to dinner this evening after work. The popular homemade lamb lasagna was enjoyed by the three of us, plus a very naughty, but tasty pudding.
We had collected Olive in the morning and she is staying with us overnight to save us going back for her tomorrow.
