Walking and no moaning
Had a walk this morning (Taylor Park, St Helens). It had chucked down overnight so everything was still drying out.
Visited Terry and took him some spare undies and T shirt. Felt hungry while there so ate two of his chocolate digestives then felt sickly!
He looked better in himself; a better colour, more alert. He told me he fell asleep before he got the oramorph last night and slept well. He had not needed any painkillers all day but this evening he was about to ask for some as he had a bit of an ache in his abdomen.
The IV antibiotics (tazocin) were stopped after the early morning dose and the doctor said that since tazocin is not available in tablet form he will be prescribed two different oral antibiotics which he will need to be one for a month. He had not had any when I spoke to him around 8:15pm but will hopefully be starting them tonight.
Doctor apologised to him this morning for saying he could go home and then he didn't. He said he was all ready to send him home but had to run it by the consultant of course and the consultant said no way!
Registrar came to see Terry and she said the pleural effusion appears to be clearing. He was told that his blood levels (markers) are raised but they are not high - however they are too high to go home yet.
He will still be having daily bloods done to monitor how things are going.
No moans today! I could moan that he had not had his prescribed dietary milk shake but I asked them for a carton of milk to mix it and was given it right away. He prefers me to make it as I take time to get rid of the lumps! Plus, I make it in 2 stages so it's not too thick.
Hoping the improvement continues.
