Santuario de burros.
Today I went with friend L to the donkey sanctuary, a place I've long wanted to visit but could never find where it was. They seem very well cared for by the volunteers, and two were actually born there when three rescued beasts became 5 soon after arriving. They are all really sweet, and despite the huge teeth very gentle in accepting treats. One poor girl (not pictured) was very depressed as her partner of 30 years had recently died. We gave her extra carrots, although that's no consolation for losing a soulmate. The rescue centre, an old farm with lots of land, is also home to Pepa the pig (last extra) who was taken in as a tiny piglet and walked like a dog with collar and leash. She still sits on command for a slice of apple, and will "speak" when told. That would be a grunt.
