Roll With It

Scotland - Day 4

A Day Of Two Halves

We started with Lorne Sausage & Bacon Rolls that Joshua brought home, Macaroni Pie for Sam. Tiana headed off for an induction day at her new place of work, Sam and I headed back to Findhorn. Not walking the bay today instead whilst Sam headed to a Himalayan exhibition I walked the footpath right round the eastern edge of the bay until I was at its end looking out over the channel that allows the Moray Firth to fill the bay.
I walked the Moray Firth Beach before climbing the dunes that make up the spit and emerging on the other side back at the north end of Findhorn Bay.

In the afternoon Sam, Paddy and I set off for Burghead, initially so that Sam could see the Pictish Fort ruins and the well but soon located a lot more history.
Amazing place.
Most people come to see the well, you get the key to unlock the access gate from the Visitors Centre. The well is the subject of today’s photograph and the text below. In the coming days I can use other photos showing more recent history as Blip topics.

Burghead was at one time short of a regular supply of drinking water and locals apparently knew a well existed. An old man suggested that they should dig in a certain spot, where, according to immemorial tradition a well would be found. It's unearthing in 1809 sparked stories about further underground rooms and buried treasure.

Paddy and I made our way down to the harbour, a working harbour, and had a good look round, fascinating, more of it in the coming days.

Home for dinner and a fine selection of cheeses washed down with a quality port.
Our youngest certainly knows how to live.
