Cocktail Kiwi
Today's the day ....................... for something new
This is another plant in the garden that is doing noticeably better than it has before - probably as a result of that sunnier-than-usual spell of weather recently.
It's a 'cocktail kiwi' (Actinidia arguta) - a wild relative of the familiar furry kiwi fruit (Actinidia deliciosa). It grows as a similar sort of vine and this year, it is covered with these small rounded flowers that (fingers crossed) we hope will go on to produce 'lots of sweet, grape-sized fruit hanging in small clusters that are not only sweet but have edible, grape-like skins and tender flesh'.
Of course this is just what it says in the blurb. It has yet to produce anything at all - but, you never know, this just might be the year. I'll keep you posted .....................!
