Mission Impossible

Having recently watched the last MI film on the telly, it was time to see how it all concludes by going to the cinema to watch “Mission Impossible - The Final Reckoning”. Having been told that there were numerous spectacles and stunts, the logical place to go was Rheged, where it was showing on their big screen this afternoon.
As we were heading in that direction anyway, it would have been churlish not to have set off early and make a slight detour to Cranston’s in order to get some goodies for tea. Even brought the cool bag with us so any comestibles purchased wouldn’t suffer in the boot of the car while we watched the film.
The film definitely lived up to the hype - an absolute action fest from start to finish. I was genuinely on the edge of my seat several times.
But it was long - almost three hours - and we didn’t set off home until well gone six. For some reason, traffic around Penrith (and M6 J40 in particular) was horrendous and we soon found ourselves in our own mission impossible, just trying to get on a road heading South. Finally managed to get to the A6, but it took nearly one and a half hours from leaving Rheged to arriving back home. A journey that is ordinarily only about forty minutes. No idea what caused the jams because both the M6 and the A6 were flowing freely.
Anyway, safely home now and tucking into a big slice of Ullswater Pie…
