Sea Swallow In Flight
A quick visit to Fishers Green between the showers. I stood on the wobbly bridge over the flood relief channel trying to capture a lone common tern in flight. These are such elegant birds. There used to be lots here every summer but the black-headed gulls have ousted them.
We called in at the area by Longlands Hide and I got a mediocre shot of the whitethroat. Hemlock is tall, in full bloom, smells disgusting and is everywhere. I'm sad that this highly poisonous plant has proliferated in recent years. Maybe it has been allowed to spread and thrive because of the reluctance to use weedkiller these days. I've noticed some plants opposite this property. I'm not going to let it become established here. When I visited the family nursery last summer I spotted a few plants there. I've told our tenant that it must be eradicated.
