"Men Say Brown"
On the radio this morning: The average woman knows
275 colors—and men know eight. Women say coffee,
mocha, copper, cinnamon, taupe. Men say brown.
The first verse of a poem by Henry M Seiden.
It was lovely to see my first meadow brown butterfly of the season in the front garden this morning. It is a beautifully fresh specimen. Meadow browns are butterflies of summer and brown is the colour of summer according to Clare Hornby of ME + EM, known for its intelligent design. Mocha mousse is the Pantone colour of 2025. I first saw brown worn in a novel fashion by my granddaughter in the spring. She has a very fetching pair of chocolate leggings. I saw a shapely young woman dressed head to toe in skin-tight brown last week in M&S. She looked fantastic.
MrQ used to 'steal' my belts to hold his instrument cases together. I found a lovely, soft, wide leather, brown one with a pinless gold buckle amongst his stuff and am going to give it to my granddaughter next time she comes home. Fortunately it's in perfect condition so he can't have got round to using it.
