Shap Abbey

A hidden gem. It reminded me a lot of Fountains Abbey albeit on a smaller scale. It is set in a valley like Fountsins Abbey and cannot be seen until the last minute, again just like Fountains Abbey.

I need to delve into its history, maybe I’ll leave that until I get home. No doubt it will have some connection with the Cistercian monks of Furness Abbey near Barrow. A bit of its history
