Living my dream

It's That Dog Again...

Winter has arrived! (See the extra for an idea of what the next 10 days look like.)

As I type on Friday lunchtime cold southerly rain has just started. It is cold enough that rain here means substantial snow not much higher up. The whole country will be experiencing these conditions over the weekend, so all the ski fields will be well covered in the next day or two.

Bean and I had our daily walk first thing when there was still some sun in the sky and frost on the twinkling, crunchy ground. It was the first decent frost of the year (-2C) and given how late it has appeared, it didn't bother me in the slightest.

When we had our first -3C at the end of April last year I was miserable...

I have a friend coming to stay tonight on her way home to Stewart Island from a trip to Tauranga, which is why I'm Blipping early. There is quite a bit yet to do to make sure she has a warm and cosy time here. Extra blankets for her bed, a heater in her cabin, sorting out proper winter-warming supper and so forth...

Bean however, is quite reluctant to move from the comfort of the warmth of the potbelly stove. Which, incidentally, was the subject of my first Blip: a day much like today.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your lovely comments, stars and hearts for yesterday's Blip anniversary. I started four years ago wondering if I'd last a month. And here I am. Addicted.
