More wool and Bradford 25 Art

This time up on the wilds of Pensitone Hill above Haworth. Suitably called 'Wild Uplands' these art installations, which are part of Bradford 25 City of Culture, featured on Sunday's Countryfile programme. We only live in the next valley and as we came over the hill I was pleasantly surprised that we could see this on the horizon above Haworth.
The tower by Steve Messam was shown being completed on the programme by the structure being covered by raw fleeces from local sheep breeds ( Derbyshire Gritstone and Lonk) and their smell was certainly of sheep! More in the extra and my flickr link here. (There us also a downloadable musical accompaniment from Opera North)

Chris and I went this morning and had a good 'blow', as we say about a windy walk in Yorkshire, on the moors but didn't get wet. We continued on to look a the 99 Butterfly installation by Meherunnisa Asad. inspired by Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish  - exploring displacement. Extra 2
There are two other installations but we didn't get round to seeing them this morning as they are quite spread out but maybe another time.
Later in the summer these will be surrounded by heather.

Last time we came up here to see something it was the set created for a BBC film about the Bronte sisters. They had recreated the Haworth Parsonage in wood. You could see all the bare wood at the back and the front was painted very black - too black I felt. (I saw some filming in Haworth Main Street to When i watched the much anticipated programme I'm afraid I could only see the wooden backdrop.

Risked putting my washing out when I got back. It seems to be mainly bright and breezy today.
Happy weekend everyone

I have added yesterday’s art work in Salt's Mill to the Flickr album if you’re interested.
