Hot lips
A damp morning but after the rain cleared I got out into the garden to do some jobs. My espaliered apple, pear and plum trees were getting rather overgrown so I pruned them back into shape. That revealed quite a few pears and I roughly counted 46 apples, but not a plum to be seen. The three trees are really too close together and as the plum is in the middle I may well remove it as it doesn't seem to do anything, and leave the space for the apple and pear to spread out a bit more.
This Salvia 'Hotlips' has started to show the white tops to the flowers. They lost the white bit and went simply red towards the end of last year and started off this year the same way, so I'm glad to see the white coming through. The bees were certainly enjoying those lips, as were a few hoverflies.
