Now, as I see it......

Clouding over

The Bure Valley Railway is celebrating its 35th anniversary this weekend and has two engines visiting from the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway for the event.  The two engines were the first steam engines to run on the railway when it opened as the Bure Valley only had one engine at the time, the diesel that they had used to build the line itself, so hired these two in.

I knew the two would be double-heading the 9.45am departure so drove down to have a look.  There is a level crossing over a farm lane about a mile south of Aylsham station where I knew I could get a good view.  It was raining slightly with a bit of a breeze, and I soon saw the train heading towards me along the line.  As they came close to me they slowed down for the level crossing and both engines sounded their horns long and hard.  The resulting steam completely enveloped both engines so the only thing I got to see was a cloud going by me and across the crossing.

I got this shot just before the cloud took over so thought it was just about right for Silly Saturday.  I may try again tomorrow.
