Kingfishers

Prompted by nadinepierce's sighting of kingfishers at Valleyfield Pond, I began Django's walk by going to see, and found the two juveniles in exactly the same position (see extra). They looked as if they were waiting for something to happen. After that, I went back over Kirkhill, up to Cornbank, and home via the top field and the Esk.

I spent the day with preparations for the Workshop, in particular putting together a wall of company/institution logos for a final publicity post. Thankfully I could run my ancient version of Photoshop on my old laptop, because I can't get my Windows 11 machine to run it. I read that it may be due to having the same license running on the maximum of two machines - A has a copy - but I'm not deleting my only working copy just to test the theory!

When I went out to get a prescription for daughter K, I was pleased to see a poster for a Penicuik Pride march - the first I know of in the town. Unfortunately we'll be away for it, but maybe K will represent the family.

During the afternoon, it came to my notice that mrcoolwhat (a Turfer from Sweden) was in Penicuik (with Hodge). So, when I realised that they were going to pass near our house, I nipped out to say "Hi". I was a little surprised to discover that someone with that Turf name - who was second in the world in the last round of Turf - looked no more than 16 is only 14!

In the evening, I had to walk Django, so I didn't go into Edinburgh for the welcome event of Turf "Bonanza". However, I watched the last 15 minutes "live" on my PC, and it made for exciting viewing as dangermous just held off Cruachan and Fezjivebunny.
