Grasmere, Sizergh Castle and a Birth Place

We had a very wet walk around Grasmere first thing. So beautiful. The heavy clouds made the lighting very atmospheric and changeable, see extras.
There was a car rally happening, loads of Mark 1-3 Escorts, very colourful with lots of proud owners.
We had coffee in the village plus a wonder round the Heaton Cooper gallery.
Sizergh Castle and gardens, main photo, are 5 miles south of Kendal. They are ran by the National Trust. The House was very dark and a bit creepy. The gardens were in full bloom and an absolute delight to stroll around.
Tom asked if we could visit the street where he was born in Kendal. We found it easily but he didn’t have any memory or feel any attachment to the place. Hardly surprising really as the family left the house before he was two.
Home now (holiday home) for food and an alcoholic drink!
