Shipshape And Brizzle Fashion
We've been on another Boundless adventure today, this time to see the SS Great Britain.
She was launched in 1843, the largest most advanced ship in the world and the first iron-hulled, screw propelled ocean liner. She sailed first to New York and then to Australia. In her long and eventful life she travelled to all six inhabited continents and sailed over a million miles.
In the first extra - Isambard Kingdom Brunel, the creator of the ship and one of the most flamboyant and gifted engineers of the nineteenth century.
After seeing the cramped and claustrophobic conditions of the lower decks mrsfb is even more convinced now that she doesn't want to go on a cruise!
We decided to try the park and ride which worked well - I loved the Brizzle accent of the announcer on the bus. And the 'thank you for travelling with us. Cheers!' at the end of the journey.
The weather was better than expected, though there were a few showers which we managed to dodge. The disappointment was that the catering facilities were almost non-existent, just a tiny on board café, everywhere else closed. We eventually found a nice restaurant with a table overlooking the water, and a jazz singer/guitarist playing some nifty chords for us.
One thing I didn't think about when I got new light sensitive lenses in my glasses - I can't judge the exposure so well in the viewfinder as it looks darker than it really is. I have to look at the meter now, though I don't always want the shot 'properly' exposed. Oh well, I will get used to it.
In other news, we got a bit lost finding the ship at the start, but did see Banksy's Girl with a Pierced Eardrum (second extra) which brought back memories of my first blipmeet in 2018. It seems she is in solitary confinement now though :-(
