Friday Night Pizza
Book club night for the Chesham Ladies, so I braved the increasingly mad M25 and checked in at my usual inn of choice, the Two Brewers at Chipperfield. I had a nice big room with a king-sized bed all to myself and dual aspect windows which made it light and pleasant. Still feeling the combined after-effects of my heavy cold and doing too much whilst it was at its worst, I fell asleep on the vast expanse of very comfortable mattress. Luckily I woke in time to drive over to Chesham for our book club meeting.
On the way to ‘BBC’ Sarah’s, who was hosting, I called in at the Chesham Waitrose to get some green salad, tomatoes and soft drinks as a contribution towards supper. It was outside that I took a few sneaky pictures of their lovely pots of flowers. The one I’ve chosen to blip is Gerbera garvinea "Sweet Memories" in pink.
Sarah did home made pizzas for supper - delicious and so much better than bought ones. We were also joined by Lucy, Michelle and ‘Chesham’ Sarah who came straight from choir practice. Mell was missing, too pooped having only just arrived home from a holiday abroad. We enjoyed some tasty dips, strawberries with chocolate and profiteroles as well as the pizzas. There wasn’t a particularly lengthy discussion about the book (‘Rivals’ by Jilly Cooper), but it was agreed that Jilly Cooper is the best author of this genre of novel. It’s not a style of book I would normally read, but then that’s the point of belonging to a book club! We had a jolly evening, and it was as always lovely to catch up with my Chesham friends.
