Beautiful paddle at Cowan Lake
(Catching up on backblips)
Sunday June 1
The day started really quite cool for June 1, but under sunny skies, it developed into a beautiful day, so after the morning at church, where we were playing a relatively short handbell pice for the Prelude, we returned home, made a picnic, loaded the kayaks on the car, and settled off for Cowan Lake. We enjoyed our picnic first by the lake side, then headed out paddling. It had been quite still at home, but we found quite a breeze up at Cowan, which some sailing dinghies were enjoying, but we chose to seek out the more sheltered waters of one of the inlet creeks to start with. When we came back to the main part of the lake, the wind seemed to have dropped a bit, which was good. As you can see from my collage, quite a bit of bird life was in evidence, especially many Canada geese, but also cormorants, red winged blackbirds and a few gulls.
