Eider Ducklings

Spotted this little group in the shallows in St Monans harbour. Dark birds on gloomy water and at a distance ...... rather tricky conditions but worth persevering.

The ducklings are not as cute as Mallard babes but they do grow up to be rather stylish, particularly the males. Many are born on May Isle and they have to get away from the island as quickly as possible before they become food for the gulls.
