Sally Mair - Loving life

Pond life

The garden is responding already to a wet day all the colours are bright and clear. The heron is doing a good job at the pond.
A quieter and warmer(the heating is fixed) day today. I set my alarm for 7.30, got dressed then got a coffee and went back to bed. The heating engineer arrived at 9.30 and spent over an hour and a half repairing then servicing the boiler and gas fire. I was pleased that my identification of the faulty component was correct - it wasn't hard, a valve had failed and was very noisy.
We popped out to Craigies for lunch, their pick your own has started, they've changed the system though. Your entry money was always deducted from the cost of the fruit you picked. Not so this year, it has become a non returnable fee to enter the fruit area. I'm not convinced I approve and it will be offputting for family groups I think. I may have to find another fruit farm, shame because this one is so convenient.
I had a couple of phone chats with various people about our appointment. People seem pleased. I've arranged to meet our new Rector over lunch on Wednesday, it will be nice to chat without any restrictions or sense of being on our best behaviour. I'm looking forward to it.
I also drafted out a couple of paragraphs as a starting point for discussion next week. We are asked to produce a mini profile to go in the file of papers being distributed to prospective applicants in our hunt for a new Bishop once +John retires in September.
